Brohl Wellpappe is a medium-sized German family-owned company with a long tradition. Founded in 1778 and headquartered in Mayen in the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate, the company manufactures high-quality packaging and displays made from corrugated and solid cardboard. As a service partner, Brohl Wellpappe offers its customers holistic packaging solutions at seven locations in Germany and the Netherlands.
Challenges
Brohl Wellpappe uses a network solution implemented in 2018 by COM plan + service, a long-standing business partner of Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise. Some of the installed LAN switches are now reaching the end of their lifecycle. Starting in 2025, they will need to be replaced with newer models. In preparation for this age-related product change, Brohl Wellpappe has deployed AI support to make its network even more resilient and powerful. This change will have positive results for both machines and employee desktop PCs connected to the network.
Action
Brohl Wellpappe is one of the first customers in Germany to implement the new Alcatel-Lucent OmniVista® Network Advisor. The autonomous tool minimizes network downtime and optimizes user experience with integrated artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities. The platform reports any sudden changes in network behavior, suggests solutions, accelerates troubleshooting and increases network security. Network Advisor, which can run on a smartphone, tablet or PC, uses Rainbow™ by Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise to interact with administrators in real time. Initially, 50 Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch® LAN switches were connected. Next, another 100 switches that will reach their end-of-life in 2025 will be replaced and the new switches will be integrated into the new network management system.
